Israel Katz said he assumes that Benjamin Netanyahu's upcoming meeting with US leader Donald Trump implies a dialogue
TEL AVIV, July 28. /TASS/. Israel is ready to attack Iran again and strike at its energy infrastructure, but Washington does not approve, Defense Minister Israel Katz said in an interview with C14 TV channel.
"We really want to attack Iran's energy facilities, but the United States currently does not approve of this, as it will harm neighboring countries and lead to a global oil crisis," he said. "The IDF has received instructions and is preparing to attack Iran alone. Now we are not alone, there is the United States, let's see what they will do, whether they will return to the campaign or act in other ways.
"The United States and Iran have certain problems that go beyond the specific interests of Israel, for example, the Strait of Hormuz or energy. I said, the prime minister said, if there is any fire on Israel, we will attack with all our might."
Katz said that he assumes that Prime Minister’s Benjamin Netanyahu's upcoming meeting with US leader Donald Trump in a few hours implies a dialogue.
"The president will tell the prime minister about his intentions, and the prime minister will, of course, explain to him that we are allies, and we will analyze the situation together to achieve the main goals that still need to be realized," he added.
On July 27, before leaving Israel for the United States, Netanyahu said that he intended to discuss "all the issues on the agenda, especially Iran" during his planned meeting with the American leader. He said that in these "difficult times," it is necessary to act "with great determination and great wisdom."
The latest escalation of the US-Iran conflict began on July 8. For the first time since the signing of the memorandum between Washington and Tehran, the US hit the Islamic Republic several times, allegedly in response to the attack on a merchant ship in the Strait of Hormuz. On the same day, Trump ended the ceasefire with Iran. Tehran retaliated by attacking US facilities in Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, and Oman. On July 24, the two nations ceased their exchange of strikes.
