Former Liverpool centre-back Glenn Hysen has shared that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. The 66-year-old has shared an insight into his diagnosis and living with the condition.

Hysen spent three years with Liverpool, joining in 1989 and leaving in 1992. During that time, he made 72 league appearances for the club, helping the Reds to lift the first division title in the 1989-90 season.

Following that title, Liverpool face a 30-year wait to lift the top league title again. Jurgen Klopp led the team to break the Premier League duck in the 2019/20 campaign.

Speaking to Swedish publication Hant, he disclosed his diagnosis, though it's thankfully a mild variant of the condition. He said: "I take medication three-four times a day with tablets. It's not dangerous, but you have to treat it."

Hysen also explained the impact of the disease on his body and how the illness can be managed through medication.

While the revelation represents a significant setback, especially for his wife Camilla Lendot and his two sons Tobias Hysen and Anton Hysen, he's attempting to maintain a positive outlook.

Hysen added: "I'm not the kind of person who digs deep into things. I have no problem with it, it's not a big deal. I could probably work in a bar now and shake a drink. I won't get any worse either.

"There are certain situations where you get a little nervous. If there are a lot of people around, I shake a little, but otherwise it's calm."

Hysen made a total of 93 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions, scoring three goals and providing four assists.

Besides Liverpool, he also turned out in the top tier for PSV Eindhoven, Fiorentina and his local team FK Goteborg, where he lifted two UEFA Cups (now known as the Europa League).

He also earned 69 caps for Sweden, netting nine goals for his nation.
