E-rickshaw battery 'hacking': govt bans 3 apps after viral videos of vehicles being halted abruptly

The Indian government has ordered the removal of three mobile applications allegedly being misused to remotely switch off e-rickshaws and other battery-operated vehicles in the middle of journeys. According to sources, the apps — BAT-BMS, Lossigy, and Epoch-i-ion — have been directed to be taken down, with authorities warning that any similar apps found to be facilitating such misuse will also be blocked. The move follows viral videos showing people locating nearby e-rickshaws through these apps and disabling them with a single tap, raising serious concerns over passenger safety and misuse of connected vehicle technology.
