Horrifying video captured the moment a Wisconsin police officer fatally shot a man who authorities say knifed him while resisting arrest.

The chilling cellphone video starts by showing three cops wrestling with the suspect in the middle of an intersection in Madison, before one can be heard yelling, “He’s got a knife!”

Suddenly, a female officer enters the mix and loudly repeats, “Taser, taser!”

As the man appears to get down to the ground, one of the other officers is seen firing his gun three times at the suspect.

One witness can be heard wailing, “No!” in the background of the video, which then shows the firing officer and a second cop kneeling over the man’s dead body.

The disturbing clip appears to show blood pooling on the concrete surrounding the face-down suspect.

“Shots fired, roll EMS,” a nearby officer can be heard saying into the radio pinned to his uniform.

The clip, which has circulated largely across social media since the broad-daylight shooting Wednesday afternoon, shows only one perspective of what happened, Madison Police Chief John Patterson said during a news conference.

Cops had been responding to calls that someone was trying to enter parked cars in the neighborhood when the harrowing incident unfolded, Patterson said.

The suspect – who initially tried to flee on his street bike, traveling through backyards to get away – eventually either fell off the bike or was taken off of it by officers, according to the chief and a news release by the Madison Police Department. 

That’s when he pulled out a fix-blade knife and injured the same police officer who later shot him, Patterson said, adding that the shooter was a veteran cop.

The knife, which has a black handle, was seen lying on the street in a photo later released in the department’s news release. 

Before the gunfire erupted, another officer had deployed a taser, but it was unsuccessful, Patterson said.

Cops on the scene tried to provide life-saving measures before the suspect – who is in his 30s – was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the police department.

The chilling cellphone video showed his toppled-over bike just feet away from where the harrowing shooting unfolded. 

Authorities have yet to publicly identify the deceased, but said he was in his thirties. 

His race also remains unclear, though advocates for the black community in Madison insist that the man was black.

“Another black man is dead on a Madison street, and our community watched him die before we even knew his name,” said Brandi Grayson, the head of the Madison-based black community advocacy group Urban Triage. “That is the cruelty of state violence.”

A crowd of protestors formed within hours near where the shooting occurred, with people chanting, “Arrest the cops!”

The condition of the cop who was stabbed, and whether he received medical treatment for his injuries, wasn’t immediately clear. 

A second police officer was also injured during the struggle, but authorities couldn’t say how.

“At this time, we do not think it was from the knife,” the police department’s Wednesday press release read.

The four officers who were involved in or witnessed the shooting will be placed on administrative leave while the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation probes the horrifying series of events. 

The incident – which occurred on a popular street lined with restaurants, bars and shops in Madison’s Marquette neighborhood, less than two miles from the state Capitol – has roiled Gov. Tony Evers, who called for “transparency and accountability” throughout the agency’s investigation. 

“We will continue to keep the loved ones and family of the individual who was killed in our hearts and prayers. His life mattered,” Evers posted on X.

“As folks exercise their First Amendment rights tonight and in the days ahead, we urge them to do so peacefully and respectfully,” the governor added, as enraged, anti-cop protestors marched through the streets and held a candlelight vigil for the man Wednesday.

By Thursday, community members were gathering in droves at a growing memorial of candles, flowers and signs. 

Sabrina Thompson, of Madison, was crying at the emotional site. “It’s really unbearable,” she said. “You can’t describe it.”

The Madison Police Department and the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation didn’t immediately respond to inquiries from The Post.
