While Doral West Dade Woman’s Club (DWDWC) makes plans for first anniversary celebration on September 10, members are also involved in supporting several charitable efforts. They are currently involved in collecting funds to support the Global Empowerment Mission’s Venezuela earthquake relief; putting together a club team to support the Mall Crawl on August 15, for Alzheimer’s Association; creating another team to support FRC’s Strike Out Against Child Abuse Bowling Tournament; and even participating with the Coral Gables Woman’s Club to help raise funds for firefighters college scholarships and help with funding for gear. That firefighter effort is part of the General Federation of Women’s Club Presidents Project whose District 11 Chair for the project is Ruth Martinez, a dual member of both the Doral West Dade and Gables clubs. For more information on the club, contact gloria@cnews.net.
The Coral Gables and Doral West Dade Woman’s Clubs both met recently with the Coral Gables Fire Department for a photo op while also learning how to do CPR on both large and small dogs. While many members knew how to do CPR on humans, this instruction was something none had training for in the past and was vey much appreciated. Many thanks to CGWC’s Ana Lam for arranging the visit and for the firefighters helping out that morning, Among the many enjoying the morning were Carol Horkowitz, Rita Tennyson, Helen Reguero, and Elena Leonardi, to mention a few.
Coming up soon at Miami’s International Mall Doral is a Mall Crawl for the Alzheimer’s Association on Saturday, August 15. This going to be a fun morning with team participation from Mall stores as well as other such as the Doral West Dade Woman’s Club who started their own team. Proceeds from the Mall Crawl will be added to the donations for the big Alzheimer’s Walk in November. For more information email, Mall General Manager Maria Prado at mprado@simon.com,
Coming up soon, here are a few dates to save on your calendar.
In closing, remember to count your blessings, share a smile, and make a difference.
