Director and actor Sean Penn has been slammed online after he stepped out with girlfriend Valeria Nicov, who is 30 years his junior. 

Sean, 64, and Valeria, 30, made their elegant red carpet debut at the Marrakech International Film Festival on Saturday.

The couple was attending a star-studded event thrown in honor of Sean, with a glittering guest list including Monica Bellucci, Tim Burton and Andrew Garfield.

The lovebirds - who went public with their romance in September - turned heads as they wrapped their arms around each other while posing up a storm. 

Amid the cavalcade of famous faces, Sean and Valeria were a standout presence, dressed to the nines in outfits reminiscent of Old Hollywood. 

The 64-year-old had the look of love in his eyes as he stared at his new partner who donned a gorgeous black gown. 

Their debut sparked a wave of backlash as critics took to social media to slam the film mogul for his controversial age-gap romance. 

People on the web branded Sean 'disgusting' and questioned whether or not Valeria would be with the 64-year-old if he had a different profession. 

People took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to criticize him as some even compared the 30-year-old to being his 'granddaughter.' 

One person said: 'Disgusting.' 

Another user wrote: 'PeePaw and his granddaughter.'

Someone else commented: 'If Sean Penn was a Greeter at Walmart would this young girl be with him... I think not.'

One user added: 'Sleeping with someone who wasn't born yet when you were 33 is just... unsettling.'

'Vomit,' a fifth person wrote.  

Someone else said: 'Kind of creepy dude.' 

The couple seemed to pay no mind to what people thought as they still partied the night away during their red carpet debut. 

Sean sported a black suit and tie, while Valeria modeled a flowing off-the-shoulder raven gown that cascaded to the floor.

Concealing her figure in the voluminous frock, the Moldovan model and actress sharpened her screen siren features with makeup that emphasized her luminous complexion.

Her dark hair was swept tightly back into a bun, lending her the air of the gamines of yesteryear cinema like Audrey Hepburn and Leslie Caron. 

Sean - who is friends with Volodymyr Zelensky, president of Moldova's neighboring country Ukraine - looked as lovestruck as ever as he gazed into Valeria's eyes that evening.

Their romance went public at the beginning of this September when they were spotted kissing passionately during a romantic holiday in Madrid.

Valeria, who hails from the Molodvan capital Chișinău, speaks seven languages and is currently based in France, where she has acted on the Netflix hit Emily In Paris.

Her relationship with Sean comes three years after he split from his third and latest wife Leila George, 32, after just 15 months of marriage. 

Sean's first marriage was to Madonna from 1985 to 1989, and although they had an infamously tempestuous romance, they have become friends since their divorce.

He was later married to Forrest Gump star Robin Wright, with whom he shares his daughter Dylan, 33 - who is older than Valeria - and his 30-year-old son Hopper.

Robin and Sean, who tied the knot in 1996, had multiple splits and reconciliations before their 20-year romance finally fell apart for good in 2010.

They have also managed to be friendly co-parents, though Sean has confessed it took 'quite a while' and 'a lot of drama' for them to reach an amicable equation.

Since his split from Leila, he has been linked to such names as actresses Nathalie Kelley, 40, and Olga Korotyayeva, 44, but has never married again.

He went public with Valeria just months after sharing that he was 'thrilled every day' to be single and wanted only the sort of romance that would allow him to be 'free' within it.

'I'm just free,' he told the New York Times. 'If I'm going to be in a relationship, I'm still going to be free, or I'm not going to be in it, and I'm not going to be hurting.'

In a profile with the paper's longtime columnist Maureen Dowd, Sean predicted: 'I don't sense I'll have my heart broken by romance again.'

Shortly before his latest divorce was finalized, Sean confessed in an interview with Hollywood Authentic that he was still 'so in love' with his then-estranged wife Leila, the daughter of Vincent D'Onofrio and Greta Scacchi.

He admitted to having 'f***ed up the marriage,' saying: 'We were married technically for one year, but for five years, I was a very neglectful guy.'

Sean clarified: 'I was not a f***ing cheat or any of that obvious s***, but I allowed myself to think that my place in so many other things was so important, and that included my place in being totally depressed and driven to alcohol and Ambien at 11 o’clock in the morning, by watching the news, by watching the Trump era, by watching it and just despairing.'

He noted that 'beautiful, incredibly kind, imaginative, talented young women who get married to a man quite senior to them in years, they don’t actually love it when they get up from their peaceful night’s sleep and their new husband is on the couch, having been up since four, watching all of the crap that’s going on in the world and has decided that 10:30 in the morning is a good time to neck a double vodka tonic and an Ambien and say: "Good morning, honey. I’m going to pass out for a few hours and get away from all this s***."'
