Jennifer Welsh, Professor, Department of Political Science, Director of the Max Bell School of Public Policy and Distinguished James McGill Professor at McGill University, can comment on the importance of the Canada-EU defence partnership, European interests in Canadian energy and aerospace as an industry of growth for Canada. Prof. Welsh can also discuss the key economic sectors Canada and Ireland share (agri-food, AI, life sciences) and speak about how Ireland has just released a document describing itself as a “Model Power” in international relations (a twist on the Middle Power concept).

For the G7 meeting

, Prof. Welsh can share her expertise on the economic security agenda of these states; the difficulty of finding common ground on issues like trade but also, in some cases, on foreign policy; the different AI agendas of G7 members.
