The Princess of Wales used to regularly be named as Britain's favourite royals, but in recent years her popularity has dipped, with her husband, the Prince of Wales overtaking her.

And on Thursday, YouGov released their latest set of polls into the popularity of the royal family, and Kate once again fell behind her husband. William remains Britain's most popular royal, with 76% of people having a positive opinion of the heir to the throne, while his wife is just two percentage points behind him.

However, there is some silver lining for Kate, as only 13% of the public had a negative opinion towards her, less than the 16% who had a negative view on William.

William first overtook his wife in the polls last year, overtaking his wife in August 2025. It has been over a year since Kate has been able to claim the title of 'Britain's most popular royal', with her last having that title in February 2025.

The royal couple are known for their friendly rivalry, often competing against each other during royal outings, so we're sure William will be gently teasing his other half.

The polls were generally mixed reading for the royals, but one of the headline figures saw over two-thirds 68%) of people thought that King Charles (was doing a good job as monarch, the highest since his reign began.

And while Prince Harry remained overall unpopular with the public, the Duke of Sussex can take solace in the fact that his poll ratings are improving. 33% of respondents had a positive opinion of Harry, compared to 27% from last year, and negative opinions on the Duke have come down from 62% to 58%.

Support for the monarchy on the whole has remained fairly level throughout King Charles' reign, with close to two-thirds in favour of retaining the royal family.

However, the polls did make for grim reading for some members of the royal family. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor unsurprisingly remains the least popular royal of the bunch, with only 2% of the British public holding a favourable opinion of him.

However, the scandals surrounding the former Duke of York have negatively impacted on the popularity of his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. Both princesses now have more of the public viewing them unfavourably rather than favourably.

A recent report shows that 34% of people have a negative opinion towards Beatrice and Eugenie. 30% of people think favourably of the former, and 29% of the latter.

Against their fellow family members, the pair only rank above their father and Meghan Markle.
