One of Derbyshire's best-known bakeries is opening a new store in its first-ever industrial-estate location.

The new branch will be at Egstow View Business Park in Clay Cross and Bird's Bakery has partnered with RAW Workshop - a social enterprise which reuses furniture to create bespoke pieces and has designed the seating area for the store.

It will have a combination of picnic benches and more traditional tables and chairs.

The space is set to incorporate the brand’s new branding that includes a spring green and teal colour palette.

The counter will be the focal point of the shop, serving all of the usual Birds favourites and will cater for customers looking for a quick breakfast or lunch on the go, as well as those wanting to sit in and enjoy their favourite Birds treats.

Located close to local businesses and a nearby housing development, the store has been designed to serve the needs of the wider Clay Cross community.

Jamie Bird, managing director of Birds Bakery, said: "We're really looking forward to opening our doors in Clay Cross and becoming part of the local community and expanding our presence in Derbyshire.

"This is our first store on an industrial estate, and customers can still expect everything they know and love about Birds - from freshly baked bread and savouries to sweet treats, all served by our friendly team.

"We've adapted the design of the store to suit the location, creating a space that's ideal whether you're popping in on your way to work, grabbing lunch or meeting friends for a coffee."

Birds Bakery’s Clay Cross store is located at the business park in Oakleaf Close. It will open on Thursday, August 27, Monday to Saturday from 7.30am to 5pm and Sunday from 9pm to 4pm.
