As the Iran war stretches into its fifth month, the oil giants are posting some of their strongest earnings in years — and the numbers are drawing scrutiny even as public support for the conflict falls.

The Iran war drove oil profits to their highest levels in years, and ExxonMobil just doubled its money to $14.5 billion.

Chevron nearly quintupled its profit over the same three months last year, pulling in $12.1 billion.

The war that’s driving those numbers has now run five months, and 64% of Americans say it hasn’t been worth fighting.
