In his op-ed last Sunday, Rep. Donald Ardell (“Assess ICE instead of trading blame,” July 24) sounds like he worked 25 years as a federal criminal investigator with integrity and is proud of his career.

That was then. This is now. And now is a very different time.

Did Rep. Ardell wear a mask, with no ID, when he investigated? Did he chase cars, point guns at people and drag them out of cars and assault them — terrorizing both them and their neighbors? I doubt it.

What does it say that the U.N. Human Rights Council is calling for an investigation into our notorious detention centers, the rising number of deaths and reports of inhumane treatment? This is done in our names and with our money.

Our representatives should be aggressive in investigating and stopping these outrages. The horrible treatment of our immigrants needs to stop now.
