I am no longer a Democrat. Today I became an “unenrolled” voter.  

I still believe: “All people are created equal, and political authority resides in them alone. A self-governing republic can succeed only to the extent it reflects that principle.”

I believe Americans pay more than enough (taxes, premiums, etc.) to pay for healthcare, education, community services, first responders, national defense and Social Security and all other costs a great nation needs to cover, but not if a few get to skim off the top — the same few that avoid paying for the requirements of that great nation.

I believe in free markets — but health insurance, oil, electricity, healthcare and pharmaceuticals no longer qualify.

I believe rape is a crime. Rapists need to be prosecuted. Period. Using a rape allegation to advance a political goal is exploitation. A coordinated effort to use a rape allegation (exploitation) for a political goal is a conspiracy. A conspiracy timed so 150,000 votes get casually wiped away is election fraud.

Crime, exploitation, conspiracy and fraud are signs that a political party is only focused on one thing — power. A meeting of 600 insiders, where the choice gets made before the meeting even occurs, is a symptom of that.

Joining the other party isn’t an option either; they seem to have gotten there first and do it better.

It’s time politicians think long and hard about what the phrase “moral high ground” means.
