Over the weekend, we were watching the Mecum Harrisburg auction live via YouTube when we saw this Black 2026 Corvette ZR1 cross the block. I originally posted about the auction here, but the included live auction video just doesn’t do this sale justice. You really need to watch this newly-released video to really understand what happened during this remarkable moment.

The first thing we realized is simply the quality of the car being offered.

The Corvette ZR1 was outfitted with the Black/Adrenaline Red Stars & Steel limited edition package that celebrates America’s 250th Anniversary. It’s one of just 25 ZR1s wearing the Stars and Steel graphics package and one of just three Stars & Steel ZR1s with the full carbon aero package with the dive planes and the huge rear wing. The original MSRP for the car was listed at $237,270.

The second point we want to make about this auction was just how long the auctioneer needed to sell the car.

An auction house like Mecum that features a couple hundred cars crossing the block in one day are generally tightly scripted affairs when it comes allocated several minutes for each vehicle on the block. But as you will see here, this battle between bidders for the Stars & Steel Corvette was slow and methodical and blew past any constraints on time. In fact, it took nearly 12 minutes from the moment the auctioneer started the sale to when it was hammered sold at $510,000. As we mentioned in our original post, with the sales commissions, the price out the door was $561,000.

Go grab yourself a beverage and make sure you got 12 minutes to spend. Trust me, it’s totally worth it!

In other Mecum news, that wasn’t the only high-flying Corvette to cross the auction block at Harrisburg. A 2026 Corvette ZR1X Quail Silver Limited Edition Convertible was hammered for $430,000 and with the sales commission, the total sale was recorded at $473,000.

Mecum’s next auction is Monterey on August 13-15 at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa – Del Monte Golf Course.
