Ubisoft has just hosted its hour-long reveal livestream for gaming's "worst-kept secret" - Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced.

After numerous leaks, it has now been confirmed that the remake will officially release on July 9th, 2026, and will be available via a launch edition for £49.99 / $59.99, and a collector's edition for £179.99 / $199.99.

Let's take a look at what's included in each, so you can make an informed decision on what to buy and what not to.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Remake editions explained

Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced's launch edition is pretty by the numbers, and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox consoles, and PC, both physically and digitally. It includes a 34 page artbook, featuring "concept arts, character explorations, and environment artworks from Black Flag Resynced" alongside a world map poster. There's also the "crimson" costume, pistol, and sword in-game pre-order bonus as well.

More surprisingly, the price is just £49.99 in the UK, and $59.99 in the US. I'm sure plenty of us would have expected Ubisoft to ask for £70+ for such a highly anticipated remake, but credit where credit is due - this seems like a fair price. Notably, this launch edition is exclusive to European countries, and won't be available in the US

But, there's also a Collector's Edition to consider, which is remarkably more expensive at £179.99 / $199.99. It includes a statue of Edward Kenway, alongside a Steelbook for the game, Edward's notebook, and some other digital extras like outfits, guns, and ship cosmetics. It's been remarkably popular, as is already out of stock at most European retailers, and almost completely gone in the U.S. as well.

The journey to the official unveiling of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has been surprisingly turbulent.

While rumors of a remake had been circulating for years, the situation intensified in August 2025 when Matt Ryan, the voice actor behind Edward Kenway, claimed Ubisoft pursued legal action against him after he hinted at the project’s existence during a convention.

Despite the behind-the-scenes drama, Ubisoft finally made the remake official in March 2026. The announcement was accompanied by new artwork featuring Kenway at the mast of the Jackdaw alongside the official Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced logo, confirming that the long-awaited return to the Caribbean is finally on the horizon.
