CPI State secretary Binoy Viswam on Monday accused the UDF government of aiding the roll-out of “RSS-BJP agenda” in deciding to go ahead with the PM-SHRI scheme.

It is unfortunate that the Chief Minister, who is also a lawyer, cannot grasp the fact that the memorandum of understanding on PM-SHRI does not have any protection under Article 299 of the Constitution, Mr. Viswam said.

From the reply given in the Rajya Sabha, it is clear that the previous LDF government has not accepted any funds under PM SHRI, he said. He also urged the State government to get the Centre to release the ₹106.58 crore sanctioned for text books and uniforms.
