The Thrikkudamanna tourism circuit project, connecting the historic Thrikkudamanna Siva temple, scenic banks of Iruvanjippuzha and Mukkom Kadavu bridge, has entered the final stages of completion, raising hopes of a major boost to tourism in the hilly region.

Mukkom municipal authorities said the remaining works would be completed soon and the project would be opened to the public.

The project centres on the development of a riverside park at Thrikkudamanna Kadavu on the banks of Iruvanjippuzha under the Destination Challenge project initiative of the State government. It is being implemented at a cost of ₹1 crore, with ₹50 lakh provided by the Tourism department and the remaining amount contributed by the Mukkom municipality.

Recreational space

As part of the project, steps leading to the river and an access road to the park have been constructed. The park has been designed as a recreational space where residents and visitors can spend their evenings enjoying the riverfront. Landscaped open spaces and walkways have also been developed, providing ample space for leisure and recreation.

A modern cafeteria has also been built to provide snacks and refreshments to visitors.

Mukkom municipal chairperson K.P. Chandini said the project had entered its final phase of implementation and would emerge as a major asset for the region’s tourism sector.

“The park will serve as an attractive evening destination where people can relax while enjoying the scenic beauty and cool breeze along the banks of Iruvanjippuzha. The tourism circuit will significantly strengthen the region’s presence on Kerala’s tourism map,” she said.

The proposal for the project was approved by the previous Left Democratic Front (LDF) government. Besides creating a vibrant public space along the river and connecting the temple and bridge, the project is expected to attract tourists travelling to nearby hill destinations such as Kakkadampoyil, Thusharagiri and Arippara, thereby enhancing Mukkom’s tourism potential.
