Three members of an inter-State gang of burglars, including two Bangladeshi nationals, allegedly involved in several house burglaries and two-wheeler thefts across several States were arrested by the Adilabad district police on Monday.

The police recovered gold and silver ornaments, cash, mobile phones, and a motorcycle, all worth around ₹8 lakh from them.

The accused were identified as Mohd. Jauni Ali, 30, and Mohd. Ruman Ali, 33, both from Parbatipur in Bangladesh, and Tarun Singh, 29, of Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.

The arrests followed an investigation into a recent burglary at a political leader’s house in Kailash Nagar under Mavala police station limits in Adilabad district.

Addressing the media, Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan said Jauni Ali had allegedly been involved in burglaries and two-wheeler thefts across several States including Rajasthan, Odisha, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Telangana, since 2015. He allegedly entered India illegally and obtained a fake Aadhaar card.

The accused posed as vendors selling pressure cookers and grinders during the day to conduct reconnaissance in residential colonies and broke open locks at night to commit burglaries.

Further investigation revealed that Jauni Ali was part of a larger network of 12 to 15 Bangladeshi nationals who allegedly followed the same modus operandi of illegally entering India, committing thefts and escaping back to Bangladesh.

Efforts are on to identify other gang members, their associates and those who facilitated their illegal stay in India, and helped them obtain forged identity documents.
