The PoET® Multiscreen PCR kit allows simultaneous detection and differentiation of HCV, HBV, and HIV.

PoET® Multiscreen has received IVDR certification, clearing the path for its commercial rollout.

FRANKFURT, Germany — Addressing the critical need for enhanced blood safety, GFE, a well-established provider in NAT Solutions for blood safety based in Germany, is proud to introduce the PCR kit PoET® Multiscreen.

As a state-of-the-art multiplex assay for nucleic acid amplification technology (NAT), this new kit offers laboratory professionals and clinicians a certified high level of accuracy and ease of use.

PoET® Multiscreen features include:

  • Multiplex Assay: Enabling simultaneous detection and differentiation of HCV, HBV, and HIV in one assay.
  • Multi-target viral detection: uses multi-target and overlapping designs to guarantee maximum sensitivity, inclusivity, and tolerance to viral mutations.
  • Seamless Integration: Designed for use with PoET® Instrument, ensuring streamlined lab operations and optimized workflows.

“The introduction of PoET® Multiscreen underscores GFE ’s commitment to blood safety and optimized diagnostic solutions,” said the company CEO Dr Petra Rehberger. “We developed this kit specifically to help lab technicians to streamline processes in blood screening, allowing them to focus more on analysis and less on repetitive preparation.”

PoET® Multiscreen leverages advanced PoET® System technology to deliver rapid results.

Enhanced Laboratory Workflow: GFE Product Updates

GFE has introduced a series of strategic enhancements to the PoET® System, designed to simplify laboratory workflow and maximize instrument productivity.

  1. Quality control simplification: PoET® Universal Positive Control
The PoET® Universal Positive Control kit is designed to work in tandem with the PoET® Multiscreen PCR kit. It’s primary function is to replace virus-specific controls with a single reagent capable of validating all viral detections.
  • Process Efficiency: Minimizes the complexity of reagent management.
  • Validation Integrity: Ensures uniform performance standards across the entire assay menu.
  • Cost & Time Savings: Reduces the number of control runs required for result verification.
2. Digital & operational upgrades: Calliope® Software

The latest iteration of the Calliope® software introduces three key functionalities aimed at high-throughput environments:

PoET Instrument

Throughput Optimization
(‘Staggered Run’): Technicians can now initiate a subsequent run while the previous one is still in progress. This overlapping workflow can increase a single device output by up to 50 % in 8 hours.

Site-Wide Monitoring (Dashboard): Provides a centralized interface to monitor the status and results of every PoET® Instrument connected to a local network.”

Tailored LIS Integration: Result markers are now fully adjustable. This allows PoET ® Instrument to “speak the same language” as a facility’s existing Laboratory Information System (LIS), preventing data translation errors.

Summary: These updates collectively reduce the “Hands-on” time required per sample while significantly increasing the total testing capacity of the lab.

About GFE: GFE is a specialized diagnostic company dedicated to nucleic acid amplification technology (NAT) in blood Screening. Strategically headquartered within the Frankfurt Biotechnology Innovation Center (FiZ) in Germany, GFE has been at the forefront of blood safety since its inception. Founded in 2005 by the blood donation centers of the German Red Cross, GFE was among the first companies to implement cutting-edge NAT technology for the early detection of HCV, HBV, and HIV in blood donor screening.
