Megyn Kelly launched a blistering attack on her former Fox News stablemate Sean Hannity as she branded him a 'supplicant to Donald Trump.'

The journalist launched the insult as she continues leading the charge against war in the Middle East, which she blames the likes of Hannity and fellow broadcaster Mark Levin for pushing the President into.

In her latest show on Tuesday night, titled Understanding America's Goals in Iran, Kelly said she felt the need to 'just be honest' about Hannity's Fox News credentials.

'Hannity is a supplicant to Donald Trump, he would never say anything other than to puff Trump up,' she said.

'We all love Trump, but let's be real, he can be flattered into thinking, "Yes, this is your idea and it's a great one and you're the leader of the free world and we need you, Mr President."'

It comes as Trump brushed off criticisms from Kelly and Tucker Carlson this week over his war with Iran, telling The Inner Circle on Monday that the journalist 'should study her history book a little bit.'

Kelly, a fervent Trump supporter, has broken ranks with the President over the war with Iran and said on her show last week she believes the US was dragged into the conflict unnecessarily.

She questioned whether American soldiers were losing their lives 'for Iran or Israel' after six US servicemen were killed in the military strikes on Iran over the weekend.

Kelly is not alone among conservatives, with Carlson also emerging as a staunch anti-war figure.

In an interview with ABC's Jon Karl last week, he branded Trump's actions in Iran as 'absolutely disgusting and evil.'

Carlson has reportedly visited the White House three times in the last month to lobby Trump against attacking Iran.

But the President said in his interview with The Inner Circle this week that the commentator failed to sway him, dismissing him as he said: '[Carlson] can say whatever he wants, it has no impact on me.'

In Kelly's latest show, she also warned that Trump risks eroding his support among women if he forges ahead with the conflict.

She brought up polling that shows while Republicans are largely in support of Trump's moves in the Middle East, women are far more likely to be against the war.

'What you're seeing now is support falling basically along partisan lines,' Kelly said.

'There's also an interesting poll showing it's breaking down more severely along gender lines, where a hefty majority of women are against it and men are split almost 50/50, so that's that's all very interesting.'

Kelly added: 'But there is no question that the American people don't understand why we're doing it.'

Smoke rises from Israeli bombardment on the southern Lebanese village of Khiam on March 4

Kelly's comments come as the war between the United States, Israel and Iran entered its fourth day, with strikes intensifying and retaliation spreading across the region.

On Tuesday, US and Israeli forces sent a barrage of missiles and drone fire across Tehran, striking a number of military targets and sending columns of smoke rising over the Iranian capital.

Among the targets was a building connected to the committee responsible for selecting a new supreme leader after Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in earlier attacks.

Trump, who had been locked in negotiations with the Iranians for weeks before launching strikes on Friday night, has now signaled that he will continue taking a hard line against the Middle Eastern nation.

Posting to social media on Monday, Trump bragged that Iran's 'air defense, air force, navy, and leadership is gone. They want to talk. I said: "Too late!"'
