Not all superheroes wear capes. Some wear very nice watches. Well, at least the actors who play our favorite heroes and villains did this past week. At the L.A. premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Tom Holland once again wore his trusty Rolex Daytona; Tramell Tillman, who plays antagonist William Metzger in the upcoming flick, rocked a newly released Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso; and Michael B. Jordan, who isn’t actually in the film but won the red carpet, showed off a gorgeous vintage Vacheron.
That’s not all. At Comic-Con San Diego, Robert Downey Jr., set to play Doctor Victor von Doom in the latest installment of Avengers, flexed a perfectly green Gerald Charles Maestro; David Jonsson, set to star in the next Black Panther, fittingly sported a Panthère de Cartier; and Sam Richardson and John Cena, who are both in the upcoming Matchbox movie, wore pieces by TAG Heuer and Rolex.
Below are the best watch flexes of the week.

David Jonsson nailed his watch choice for Comic-Con. The British actor fittingly wore a Cartier Panthère as it was revealed he will star in Ryan Coogler’s third installment of Black Panther. Originally designed in the 1980s, the watch echoes the fluid movements of the panther thanks to an ultra-flexible structure. This modern iteration features a medium (27 mm) steel case, a silvered dial, and a matching steel bracelet. Splashes of contrasting blue come in the form of blued-steel hands and the synthetic blue spinel on the crown. You can pick one up for $6,250.

John Cena is a lot like the Rolex Explorer II he was sporting at Comic-Con: Both were born in the 1970s and are big and sporty yet still surprisingly refined. Based on the original Explorer II (Reference 1655) Rolex released in 1971, this particular iteration (Reference 216570) was launched in 2011 and discontinued in 2021, making it coveted among collectors. It features an Oystersteel case, a white “Polar” dial topped with a distinctive orange 24-hour GMT hand, a stainless-steel bezel with a 24-hour scale, and a matching steel Oyster bracelet. Expect to pay upward of $15,000 on the secondary market or around the same at auction.

Matt Damon wore a pretty epic Rolex to the premiere of The Odyssey in China on Thursday. Released at Watches and Wonders in March, the revolutionary new model (Ref. 127334) showcases some 18 patented innovations. Crafted in steel and white gold, the 40 mm timepiece features a striking honeycomb dial, a fresh integrated bracelet, and an ultra-thin Calibre 7135 movement. The Land-Dweller also comes celebrity-approved, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Roger Federer both rocking it in the past. (They’re both ambassadors for the Crown, of course.) It will cost you $16,450.

Michael B. Jordan is becoming the poster boy for vintage watches, wearing his own classic pieces, such as a Piaget Limelight and Protocole and a trendy Audemars Piguet “Bamboo,” on the red carpet. His latest is a rare Vacheron Constantin Prestige de la France 1972. Launched in—you guessed it—1972 to celebrate Vacheron becoming the first watchmaker to receive the prestigious Diplôme du Prestige de la France, the asymmetrical timepiece features a curved trapezoidal case that is ultra-thin thanks to the remarkably engineered movement (Calibre 1003) within. (Some examples, such as this, run on the Calibre 1050.) The model, which also showcases the Prestige de la France emblem on the caseback, has remained in the VC lineup for the past 40 years, taking on different sizes, materials, and colors. This piece appears to have a yellow-gold case paved with diamonds, a black dial, and a matching black strap. One comparable piece sold for over $60,000 at Phillips in 2024, to give you an idea of price.

Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Victor von Doom, and he’s been wearing watches (and suits) in the green that is synonymous with the iconic comic book supervillain. First it was a lime-colored Jacob & Co. Epic X Chrono, now it’s an emerald-hued Gerald Charles Maestro 2.0. Released in 2021, the 39 mm timepiece (GC2.0-A-02) features the Maestro’s signature asymmetrical case in steel, a green sunburst dial with a tapisserie finish, and a vulcanized rubber strap decorated with a Clous de Paris motif. Inside lies an in-house automatic movement (Caliber GCA 3002) with a 50-hour power reserve. You can pick one up for $18,900.

The TAG Heuer that Sam Richardson wore at Comic-Con lives rent-free in our heads. Released during LVMH Watch Week in January, the new Carrera Chronograph Seafarer was inspired by a historic Heuer Seafarer model conceived by former Abercrombie & Fitch president Walter Haynes and combines contemporary tech with a timeless vintage aesthetic. It features a 42 mm steel case, an opaline dial with teal accents, and the Seafarer’s signature tide indicator at 9 o’clock. It retails for $8,800, but, unsurprisingly, is out of stock.

Tramell Tillman is turning out to be a JLC guy—who could blame him?—strapping on yet another Reverso for a red carpet. This particular piece, which he wore to the premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in Los Angeles on Monday, was one of two riffs on the 2025 “Or Deco” that the watchmaker released in May. The reference (Q713312J) represents the height of sophistication, with a white-gold case, a matching Milanese bracelet, and a silver grained dial with a small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock. The reverse side can be personalized with an engraving or lacquer, giving you the ability to really make the second dial the star. The piece retails for $52,500.
