Dean Cain says he believes that there's a significant shift coming in the entertainment industry as Hollywood is 'dying' from 'wokeness'.

The Lois & Clark star, 59, told Fox News that the movie and television industry is constantly evolving and there's a sea change coming.

'Right now, I like the direction it's in, because I think we're coming out of the woke [era], if you will. And we'll look back at this time and go, that was stupid. I hope we do,' he said.

'It's hurt the box office. Hollywood's dying,' Cain went on. 'I left Hollywood three years ago. Nobody lives in California anymore. Everybody leaves.'

The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Cain for further comment on the story.

The Michigan-born actor now lives in Nevada having moved there primarily due to California politics and the state's 'horrible regulations' and 'onerous taxes.'

As for Nevada, Cain gushed: "It's the entertainment capital of the world, there's sports, there are concerts, there is everything in the world here. I love it. And there's a film industry here as well."

Dean Cain, 59, says he feels Hollywood is coming out of its 'woke' era which has 'hurt the box office' and suggests people will look back and call it 'stupid' in an interview with Fox News

Cain found fame playing Superman on Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. The TV show ran from 1993 to 1997 and co-starred Teri Hatcher as Lois.

He's also been seen on shows such as Las Vegas, Clubhouse and Beverly Hills, 90210 and shared with Fox News that he's focusing more on independent film these days.

'I just shot a movie in Alabama, I just got back from a movie in Texas. You know, it's everywhere else. Hollywood's behind the curve. And the ability to make these smaller independent films has been wonderful,' he said.

He also reflected on how the changing media landscape with streaming platforms in addition to network and cable television offer more opportunities.

There are 'all these different platforms to put things on' and it's 'always evolving, he explained, along with opportunities opening up in more places outside of Los Angeles.

Is "wokeness" really hurting Hollywood, or is it helping drive important change in the industry?

What's your view?

Cain's mother moved to Hollywood to pursue an acting career not long after his birth in 1966 and in 1969 she married filmmaker Christopher Cain who adopted Dean and his older brother Roger.

He recalled how Christopher had told him when he started out that he had to choose between being an actor in television or an actor in film.

'Then there was a time where you had to be a television actor to become a film actor. George Clooney. Johnny Depp.,' Cain said.

'And then it was make a sex tape and you get a shot to make a movie. That was the Kardashian thing.'

The conservative actor made headlines by joining ICE earlier this year.

As for the future, Cain revealed he has met with Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo who he thinks is doing and 'a fantastic job'.

He said he's been asked to consider running for political office in his new home state.

'If I think I can make Nevada better, perhaps I'll do it,' he mused.

'If I thought I could come in, do some good for this state of Nevada and for this country, I would do it and get out.'

He concluded: 'If I feel like I can help people, I think that should be the metric for why people get into politics. Unfortunately, I think they get into politics for power, for money, and for prestige. I don't need any of those things.'
