Need to keep your kids on track for everything in their lives? A digital planner you can mount on fridges and walls just found its way to some Disney magic of sorts.

Being a parent is rarely easy. Aside for pretty much all of it, the moment your kids begin to get a little more savvy, chances are they’re going to have appointments and events, and then possibly chores and routines like homework and helping out around the house.

Pointing it out on a regular basis is likely no use. No, you probably need to turn to persistent reminders and a bit of a gimmick to keep them tuned.

A digital calendar system could well have that gimmick, provided you don’t mind turning your life into a digital reminder system of everything that’s going on.

While you could probably paint a chalkboard onto your wall and write out what you need (which is what this journalist does with the family), a digital solution could provide both the lure and gimmick to keep the kids happy.

For the Skylight digital calendars, that gimmick could well be Elsa and Anna and Buzz and Woody, as a digital rewards system and online schedule goes the way of Disney when your kids end up doing something positive.

Checking off chores and finishing the little jobs around the house, Skylight’s recent addition to its service means anyone in the “plus” plan it offers (as opposed to simply owning the calendar) will have access to Disney images and animations, a response for when kids finish tasks.

It’s an addition that effectively encourages the little ones, and provides an extra sense of satisfaction to the chores completed using the Skylight calendar and scheduling platform, which has reportedly seen over 11 million chores completed on the system across the world.

However it’s also one that does cost extra, having been added to the company’s premium “plus” service offering, and retailing for around $125 per year on top of the cost of the calendar, which depending on the model starts from $529.

For families in need of a gimmick that draws the kids in to do their chores, it could be what’s needed, though those costs definitely need to be kept in mind. Alternatively, there’s the chalkboard idea, but they might just end up rubbing out all that good work with a board eraser when you’re not looking.
