Fallbrook business owner to pay about $9.5M in Porsche fraud case

Andrea Nicole Doherty, who operated the Fallbrook-based company CPR Classic, was ordered to pay about $9.5 million in restitution to 66 people across the country after pleading guilty to three counts of wire fraud in a Porsche consignment fraud case.
She will also spend 21 months in federal prison.
U.S. Assistant Attorney Jeffrey Hill explains Andrea Doherty’s sentencing and how they reached a plea agreement.
“It was operating essentially as a Ponzi scheme, where people who had been owed money previously were paid by money paid by newer individuals,” said Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Hill.
NBC 7 Responds has been following the case since 2024, when multiple Porsche owners contacted the consumer investigative team alleging they never received money from vehicles they consigned to CPR Classic or were unable to recover their cars.
In an earlier NBC 7 Responds investigation, customers accused the company of withholding $11.7 million owed for consignment sales as filed in dozens of civil lawsuits in San Diego County alone.
Hans Claasen of Colorado was the first to contact NBC 7 Responds after the company allegedly failed to pay him more than $100,000 for a Porsche he had owned since 1970.

He said the company picked up the car but he never saw the money after it was sold.
“I’ve gotten used to the idea that I’ll never see any other penny,” Claasen said.
When NBC 7 Responds visited CPR Classic’s Fallbrook location, Doherty initially agreed to speak with the station, but an interview date was never finalized. Doherty’s former attorney later said he had advised her not to speak publicly about the case.
As NBC 7 Responds continued investigating, the station received emails from Porsche owners across the country describing similar experiences.
In December, Doherty pleaded guilty to wire fraud in federal court.
Prosecutors said Doherty cooperated with the federal investigation after learning one had been launched.
Her defense attorney said Doherty was unaware of the full scope of the company’s financial problems when she inherited the business after her father died in 2021.
Prosecutors said she did and continued to do business.
“The court in deciding the way that it did, gave some credit to the fact that this was not an individual that got wealthy doing this, rather they were just trying to keep the family business running,” said Hill.
Claasen said he was not aware of the sentencing but remembers adding his name to a federal investigation. He added that he will follow up with federal prosecutors right away.
