<div class="clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item"><p>Multiple “L” stations in the Loop will be <a href="https://www.transitchicago.com/travel-information/alert-detail/?AlertId=116089" target="_blank">closed temporarily</a> the next two weekends due to ongoing work on the <a href="https://news.wttw.com/2025/12/04/cta-statelake-station-will-be-demolished-january-gleaming-replacement-open-2029" target="_blank">new elevated State/Lake station</a>.</p>
<p>Brown, Green, Orange and Pink Lines will all be affected by the closures. Chicago Transit Authority officials are advising riders to allow extra time July 18-20 and July 25-27.</p>
<p>These stations will be out of operation, from 2 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, both weekends:</p>
<p>— Washington/Wabash</p>
<p>— Adams/Wabash</p>
<p>— Clark/Lake (elevated; subway remains open)</p>
<p>Here’s how trains will be rerouted:</p>

</p><p><strong>Brown and Orange Lines:</strong> Trains will not “loop.” They’ll operate as a single route between Kimball on the Brown Line’s northern end and Midway at the Orange Line’s southern terminus.</p>
<p><strong>Pink Line:</strong> No service in the Loop. Loop-bound riders will need to transfer to the Green Line at the Clinton station.</p>
<p><strong>Green Line:</strong> Trains will run between Harlem/Lake and 63rd Street, but via Wells and Van Buren.</p>
<p>According to officials, the weekend closures will allow crews to work around the clock on the track.</p>
<p>Motorists will be affected as well. From midnight Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, State Street will be fully closed to vehicles and buses, northbound and southbound, from Randolph Street to Wacker Drive. Access to businesses will be maintained, and pedestrian walkways will remain open.</p>
<p>The 130-year-old State/Lake elevated station, one of the CTA’s busiest, closed in January 2025 for demolition. The new station is expected to be completed in 2029.</p>
