NWS Little Rock announced a change in the Extreme Heat Warning and Extreme Heat Watch criteria that will go into effect July 1, 2026, which includes a second criterion for the extreme watch/warning to account for nights and early mornings with a heat index of at least 105°F and a nighttime minimum temperature of at least 80°F.
