In the ruling, U.S. District Judge Franklin U. Valderrama acknowledged that the federal law known as the Energy and Policy Conservation Act prohibits state and local governments from using state or local laws or regulations to ban appliances based on the type of fuel used to power them. But the judge said Oak Park's ordinance doesn't regulate the appliances themselves. Rather, the ordinance simply forbids anyone from installing natural gas-powered appliances in their home or business.

Stoves, ovens, water heaters, driers, etc. must now be electric, not gas. Which is cheaper, electricity or natural gas? Had all electric condo, electricity cost greater even 30 years ago. Cost of electricity keeps going up, up, up, especially need for air conditioning. And where does electricity come from? The vast majority comes from fossil fuels. Solar and wind cannot produce enough for demand. So where is the benefit? Ban is not cutting fossil fuel use.

Was the judge a Jesuit in a former life? I’m still trying to wrap my mind around that distinction.
Judge Valderrama has a future as a contortionist in Cirque du Soleil.
You can buy it, It’s delivered but you can’t hook it up.
Are they going to get a search warranty to check you house every week?

The homes being built have to go electric . A gas service will not be installed.
