The month’s top post was a response to Tammy Coxen’s “Role Creep in the Hugo Awards Semiprozine Category”, which advocated a proposed change to WSFS rules to limit the number of names associated with group finalists to eight individual names and/or brief group descriptors. Said Coxen —

It’s wrong to force Hugo Administrators to make this judgment call, year after year, disappointing finalists in the process though an appearance of capriciousness. By codifying this constraint into the constitution, we can set expectations for everyone involved.

In “Role Creep and The Numbers Game: A Measured Response”, the month’s top-ranked post, Kat Kourbeti analyzed the reasons behind Hugo finalists submitting large numbers of names of team members, and why one such finalist abandoned the practice. Kourbeti also gave reasons for calling for the makers of the motion to withdraw it. (And the maker did in fact do so – see “LAcon V Preliminary Business Meeting Report”.)
