More than seven months after Madonna's new song Popular with The Weeknd and Playboi Carti debuted, the music video has arrived... in an unconventional way.

The song Popular was created for The Weeknd's controversial HBO series The Idol, debuting in early June 2023. 

While The Weeknd released a 'visualizer' video back in June featuring the cast of The Idol, the official video wasn't released until Thursday... only on Fortnite Festival. 

Madonna took to Instagram on Thursday, sharing a clip from the video, revealing you can watch it on the Fortnite Festival game from February 15-18.

'I did song with @theweeknd and @playboicarti -called - “Popular" Duh !' Madonna began in the caption.

'The video debuts Finally and Exclusively in the Fortnite festival!! Tune into the game February 15-18! It’s the only way to watch the video!' she added.

Fortnite debuted its Fortnite Festival game back in early December, which allows users to 'play' the music for certain songs similar to earlier video games Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

The Weeknd was a featured artist on the Fortnite Festival game, and with the first season slated to wrap up on February 22, this video seems to be one final treat for fans.

Fans can watch the video by heading to Fortnite Festival and going to the Discover menu and find the Fortnite Festival Jam Stage (not Main Stage).

Once there, fans will find a dedicated viewing area solely for this new music video that will be available throughout the weekend.

Fans will also be able to play Popular within the game, as the song is now available as a Jam Track.

The song begins with Madonna singing, 'I've seen the Devil down Sunset on every face in every place.'

The Weeknd breaks into his verse clad in all black, singing both inside and outside a palatial estate.

Madonna sings her verse from a city penthouse apartment in a variety of black outfits, while both Madonna and The Weeknd sing the chorus about an artist who will seemingly do anything to be popular.' 

Playboi Carti sings a few bars inside and outside of a luxury SUV but the song primarily switches back and forth between Madonna and The Weeknd.

The song debuted at #43 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles charts, though there was a recent resurgence in popularity.

Last month, after the song continued to do well on the charts, an EP with four additional versions of the song was released.
