Meghan Markle shared Prince Harry's advice for dealing with 'hard days' at a screening for her documentary about Girl Scouts as she gushed about the royal's experience as a 'helicopter pilot for the British Army'. The Duchess of Sussex, 44, is one of the executive producers of Cookie Queens that explores the American tradition of Girl Scouts selling biscuits to raise money. On Tuesday, Meghan sat down with the movie's director, Alysa Nahamias and journalist Jessica Radloff for a Q&A after a special screening in Los Angeles. During the discussion, Meghan, a former Girl Scout herself, said she reminds herself that 'the sun is always shining' above a storm when asked how she copes with setbacks, adding Harry taught her to 'zoom out' after '10 years as a helicopter pilot' in the army. 

While the Duke of Sussex's military career spanned ten years, he only spent four months as an Apache helicopter pilot during his second tour of Afghanistan between September 2012 and January 2013. Back from holiday in Europe, Meghan is busy promoting her different ventures - from the Cookie Queens movie to her lifestyle brand As Ever. On the same day that she unveiled a new blackcurrant jam, the Duchess attended the film screening wearing clothes and jewellery worth over $31,100 (around £23,000). For the occasion, the mother-of-two opted for an all-white ensemble, including a crisp blazer and wide-leg jeans, as well as a bedazzled gold ring sleeve for her fitness tracker that is worth over £2,100 alone. The sleeve from Logan Hollowell is custom-made for customers who wear Oura rings that track lifestyle metrics like sleep, activity, heart rate and stress levels.

Meghan paired the chunky band with other pieces from Logan Hollowell, including the Leo constellation ring in a nod to her August 4 birthdate, as well as the Lovers Duet Diamond and Emerald necklace that retails for $21,150 (over £15,800). While she wasn't wearing her engagement ring from Prince Harry, Meghan flaunted her wedding band on her left hand as well as a glittering five-carat sparkler on her right hand in a symbol of 'independence, self-love, and personal power'. It was clear Prince Harry, who is also credited as one of the film's executive producers, was on Meghan's mind even though she attended the Cookie Queens screening on Tuesday solo. She brought the Duke up several times during the conversation with Alysa and Jessica, including sharing that 'my husband and I' were moved by how 'the dads are portrayed in Cookie Queens'. 'It's just such a brilliant portrayal of an important part of Americana and our life here,' she added. 

Sharing his advice for overcoming challenges, Meghan said: 'My husband told me this ages ago, because we all go through experiences and life is full of surprises, but he was a helicopter pilot in the British army for ten years. 'Sometimes, on really hard days, I remember once he said, "But my love, you know, even if there's a storm happening, above the storm, the sun is always shining. 'And that's a perspective that only comes when we think about zooming out a little bit,' she continued. 'So, it's so important to maintain that perspective that, no matter what feels insurmountable, there's just always that sun shining above it.' When asked whether the couple's children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, had watched the movie, Meghan said they had not had a chance yet.

However, 'they love all the cookies that we've had throughout this process,' she quipped. After the screening, Jessica, who moderated the Q&A, shared a selfie with Meghan on Instagram and praised Cookie Queens as 'my favourite documentary I've seen in years'. The film follows the lives of young Girl Scouts, Olive, Nikki, Shannon, Elizabeth, and Ara, as they navigate the cookie-selling season. One photo showed Meghan posing with the stars of the movie, who also joined the Duchess at another screening in Ojai, California, where she cut a much more casual figure.

She swapped her trousers for a pair of white shorts that Meghan paired with a tan cashmere sweater from Brochu Walker, which retails for around $368, and a pair of suede mules. It comes as Meghan introduced a new fruit spread after teasing the launch with a video of her picking blackberries on Instagram. The flavour was unveiled as 'our newest pantry favourite' on Tuesday with a photo of the jar on As Ever's social media page. 'Made with beautifully ripe blackberries for a rich, vibrant flavour that brings a little taste of the season to your table,' the caption read. It is not available to purchase at the time of writing.
