Love Island's Jack Fowler was recently rushed to hospital after losing his vision and being unresponsive for a few days. 

The 23-year-old shared the shock news on Instagram stories on Friday, where he shared a snap of himself hooked up to an IV drip from his hospital bed. 

The reality star reassured his fans and said he was 'on the road to recovery' after being diagnosed with viral meningitis.  

Jack, who starred on the 2018 version of the ITV2 show, took to social media to give an update to fans after being absent for days. 

He said: 'Crazy how many have sent me DM’s asking if I’m okay as I’ve been absent from IG. Thanks for the check-ups.

'Here’s an update. Unfortunately I was rushed to hospital Tuesday morning with severe headaches and lack of vision. I then had a lumbar puncture that showed I had viral meningitis.'

He continued: 'I was unresponsive for a few days whilst being under morphine and several antibiotics. But now on the road to recovery.'

The TV personality added: 'Home now and resting up.'  

The The semi-professional footballer then went on to thank the NHS staff for the wonderful care he received while in hospital.

He said: 'Thank you for the messages. Also a massive thank you to the NHS and the amazing 24hour care that the doctors and nurses gave me.'

A representative for Jack told MailOnline: 'Jack started feeling very unwell, not being able to lift his head, feeling nauseous, so a friend of his rushed him to A&E as his symptoms started to get worst.

'He was treated at the hospital for viral meningitis for 3 days. He is now home and is slowly recovering.'

This isn't the first time that hunk has been hospitalised.

Last October he shared concerning snaps of himself with an oxygen mask after suffering from an anaphylactic shock. 

He went on to explain that he wanted to raise awareness of allergies as he revealed the importance behind his message.

He said: 'It’s something that we can all sharpen up on. I’ve been admitted to RESUS three times as a result of an anaphylactic shock to nuts. My circumstances are extreme as I have twice relapsed whilst in the ambulance.

'This then lead me to be given a secondary eppipen injection, which then put me into shock.

'I want to continue to raise awareness about food allergies & intolerance’s they are no joke and should be taken seriously.'

Meanwhile, it's been a busy time for Jack as he recently revealed that he's got a new single.

He told The Mirror: 'I’ve just had a track, I’ve just done a single. I’ve been in the studio. 

‘There’s no spoilers but I’ve done a track and I’ve done a music video. It’s R&B, kind of slow jam, kind of for the ladies – smooth vibes.'
