Prince Albert's son Alexandre Grimaldi-Coste has revealed he is 'really close' to his family in Monaco.

The 20-year-old grandson of Grace Kelly opened up about family life for the first time in an interview with Tatler's December issue - where he described his relationship with his father as 'very good' and said he is 'starting to see him a lot more'.

Alexandre, a student at Royal Holloway in London,  is the son of Albert and Nicole Coste, 52, a former Air France flight attendant from Togo.

Although he is Albert's eldest son, he is not in the line of succession to the Monégasques throne as his parents were not married when he was born.

His father acknowledged his paternity as an infant, and despite growing up out of the spotlight he has increasingly come into the royal fold in recent years.

Prince Albert's son Alexandre Grimaldi-Coste has revealed his father's ex Naomi Campbell 'treats him like a nephew' and has given him advice about being in the public eye

Speaking to Tatler,  Alexandre said that he often spends time with his half-sister Jasmin Grimaldi, 31, whose mother is American waitress Tamara Rotolo, and his twin siblings Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, eight, who Albert shares with wife Princess Charlene.

The 20-year-old also revealed how he and Jasmin watch Grace Kelly's films together as a way to feel close to the grandmother who died before he was born, adding that Dial M for Murder is his favourite.

'We talk about her a lot, because of things we're currently doing – especially Jazmin, as she's sort of following in our grandmother's footsteps in Hollywood. We always talk about that and how she wants to continue her legacy.'

Alexandre, Jazmin and his half-brothers from his mother's first marriage  also have a text grouP.

'We are all very close… We actually have a text message group. We’re having arguments about who’s better: Erling Haaland or Mbappé. My sister’s more Team Mbappé, but it’s more Haaland on the boys’ side. I like both.'

‘The little ones [referring to Jacques and Gabriella, 10], are too young to have a phone, so it’ll take them a few years,’ he laughs.

She added that his godmother and aunt Princess Stephanie is 'a lot of fun'.

'She's very funny, very down to earth.

'I am quite close to her. In the past few years, we’ve had dinners and lunches together to celebrate my birthday with my cousins. She’s been there for me as a godmother and an aunt.’

The university student said he considers himself 'lucky'. He is pictured with his half-siblings Jazmin and Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella

Alexandre also said that being in the limelight has afforded him certain opportunities, including rubbing shoulders with supermodels.

Discussing Naomi Campbell, who dated his father in the early 1990s, he said the supermodel was 'really open and kind'.

'It was great to meet her. She was really open and kind of embraced me as like… a nephew,'

'She gave me a bit of advice: just to be careful with anyone looking after me, especially since I'm coming out to the public,'

Despite having no official role in the royal family, the business student says he wants to become a 'global ambassador for Monaco'.

'Since I'm part of this establishment, there is a natural pressure that comes with it. But any additional pressure? No, not really. I think I just have to do my job and honour my heritage and my family in a respectable way. But I consider myself to be very respectable and very kind, so I think I will do justice to my name.'

He added that he's 'very close' to his godmother and aunt Princess Stephanie who is 'a lot of fun'.

After growing up in Knightsbridge, the aristocrat is now set to move to New York for post-graduate education where he plans to go to NYU or Fordham. He is currently living in the Four Seasons hotel while he scouts for apartments.

A mystery woman, who he met in Monaco, is also coming to New York with him. While he kept her name under wraps Alexandre did tell the society bible it's 'going very well'.

Alexandre has previously berated his title of 'illegitimate' and revealed he's 'very close' to his father and half-siblings.

In August, the student gave a tell-all interview to French magazine Point de Vue where he described father Prince Albert of Monaco, 65,  as 'benevolent' and said he considers himself 'lucky'.

Since 2022, with his father's encouragement, he has begun using his family's name of Grimaldi (although kept his mother's too, with the hyphenated with Grimaldi-Coste).

'My father's name is Grimaldi. It makes sense that I bear his name. I would have been called Dochomel if my father had been Mr. Dochomel!' he told the magazine.'

He also hit back at being called 'illegitimate' complaining that online trolls question his legitimacy.

'When I was born, neither of my parents were in another marriage, and they did not commit adultery. Using that word [illegitimate] is insulting! I hope no one believes the lies conveyed on the internet. One bears the name of one's father when one has been recognised since birth. I had voluntary recognition from my father when I was a baby. Not from a judge or the press who have forced him to,' he added.

The royal has spent time with the Monegasque side of his family, and was recently pictured at his cousin, Louis Ducruet's wedding.

Meanwhile, Princess Stephanie, his aunt, is also his godmother.

And despite his good looks, he said he has no plans to go into modelling, following his grandmother Grace Kelly's footsteps.

'My father is a prince and head of state — I personally cannot imagine myself marching on a podium.'

'On the other hand, if a prestigious brand asks me to be its ambassador and its image suits me, why not?'
