Paddy Pimblett has furiously reacted to Colby Covington's comments about Leon Edwards' father at the press conference before UFC 296.

Number two ranked Covington faces reigning champion Edwards for the UFC Welterweight title in Las Vegas on Saturday night. 

Pimblett is also fighting on the stacked card as he faces off against veteran fighter Tony Ferguson after a lenghty hiatus from the octagon. 

Much of the build-up to the fight has shown bad blood between the two fighters culminating in some nasty remarks made by the American on Friday.

'The Baddy' has revealed his reaction would have been violent if Covington insulted his family, and went on to say he hoped Edwards would 'knock him clean out.' 

Speaking inside the MGM Arena Trump-supporting Covington told Edwards 'I'm bringing you to the seventh layer of hell,' before adding: 'We'll say 'what's up' to your dad while we're there.' 

The Brit launched a water bottle at the American in response and leapt up to confront him forcing security to intervene. 

Edwards' father was shot and killed in a London nightclub when the MMA star was just 13 with Rocky' since saying he believes the motive of the murderer was a dispute over money. 

Edwards was raised by his mother and has previously recalled being told the tragic news about his father when he was a young teen. 

Pimblett reacted to the confrontation saying: 'That was way too far, I wanted to jump up and punch him in the back of the head. 

'I wanted to hit him. That was way too far. You can't say something about someone's dad.'

'If someone said something about my nana of grandma, I'd jump up and punch them in the face.'

The Liverpudlian fighter also continued to react to Edwards needing to be held back: 'Rightfully so, I hope he knocks [Covington] clean out. I hope he sends him to the shadow realm.' 

'I think he'll go out thinking of his dad and knock him clean out. I can't see Colby Covington lasting five rounds with him. I know he's got the cardio, he's got the takedowns. 

'If Usman couldn't take [Edwards] down — and I know MMA math doesn't work, but Colby couldn't take Usman down, he's not going to be able to take Edwards down. I can see Edwards beating him up for three rounds and then knocking him out.'
