Gonzalo Higuain has been joined by a familiar face at Inter Miami after the MLS franchise signed his older brother Federico from DC United. 

Former Real Madrid and Juventus striker Higuain, 32, only joined David Beckham's American team last month but will now be joined by his older brother Federico, 35, who only joined DC United in March. 

The last time the Higuain brothers played together was 15 years ago in the youth ranks at River Plate, but the Argentinean pair have now reunited in Florida. 

'Federico has been a great player in this league,' sporting director Paul McDonough said. 'We were thrilled to add more attacking depth, experience and playmaking ability to our roster when this opportunity presented itself.'

The Higuain brothers will be the 18th pair of siblings to play in the MLS, confirmed Inter Miami. 

Federico will be working in tandem with his younger brother on the pitch as well. As an attacking midfielder, he has scored 61 goals and added 68 assists in 217 MLS games. 

Before DC United - where he held a player-coach role - he spent eight years at fellow MLS franchise Columbus Crew. 

Before that, he spent time at second-tier Argentine side Nueva Chicago, Turkish side Besiktas, Club America in Mexico and three different teams in his native country, including Independiente. 

Gonzalo, meanwhile, scored his first goal for his new club last week with a free-kick piledriver against New York Red Bulls in a 2-1 victory. 

The World Cup runner-up, who also spent the second-half of the 2018-19 season on loan at Chelsea, was one of Inter's marquee signings this year, alongside French midfielder Blaise Matuidi.
