Jon Ledecky was almost caught in the crossfire when Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese went head-to-head again Sunday night. 

The multi-millionaire New York Islanders co-owner was sat courtside when the Fever star went for a layup and was fouled by her former college rival, sending the ball flying into the stands. 

The businessman was nearly taken out, however his nephew Michael, who is Olympic swimmer Katie Ledecky's brother, showed off his quick reflexes by swatting the ball away. 

On his Instagram Story, Michael shared a screengrab of the moment he threw himself in the ball's path before it could hit his uncle in the head. 

'[Angel Reese's] Flagrant 1 on [Caitlin Clark] + saving uncle Jon's noggin on same play,' he captioned the post, referencing the incident that set everything in motion. 

Meanwhile, Jon had been filming the game on his phone, and captured the chaos following Reese's flagrant on Clark. 

'You just can’t make this stuff up,' USA Today columnist Christine Brennan captioned Jon's video, which she posted to X.

The private equity investor and his nephew were presumably in town to support Katie at the Olympic swim trials earlier that day, ahead of next month's Paris games. 

The seven-time gold medalist won the women's 400-meter freestyle, clinching a spot on Team USA for the fourth time. 

Meanwhile, Reese was handed a flagrant 1 for striking Clark on the head as she drove to the basket.   

ESPN pundit Stephen  A. Smith didn't take issue with WNBA officials giving the LSU alum a flagrant, however he does think league refs have their eye on the Chicago Sky star.

'I will say this: It was a basketball play,' Smith said on ESPN's First Take on Monday.

'Yes, Angel Reese is right about that. But what they called against her in terms of upgrading it to a flagrant 1 is exactly what they would've done in the NBA as well… She can be upset about it, but it's a hit to the head and that's what they're doing in this day and age. The call is correct.'

Clark finished with 23 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds and now has a 3-1 record against Reese dating back to their college days. However, Reese's LSU Tigers did beat Clark's Hawkeyes in the 2023 NCAA title game.
