Man surrenders after shooting co-worker outside GM Arlington Assembly plant, police say

A man is hospitalized, and another is in custody after a shooting in the employee parking lot of the GM Arlington Assembly plant on Tuesday morning.
Arlington Police said they were called to a shooting along Abram Street at about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.
“This occurred during shift change at the plant, people were getting ready to go home,” Sgt. Richard Coleman, public information officer with Arlington Police, said. “The parking lot was obviously full because of that.”
Officers arrived to find a 24-year-old man with multiple apparent gunshot wounds.
“These individuals were not strangers to one another. They both work at the plant. They work in different departments inside the plant,” Coleman said. “There was a verbal argument that occurred, and then a very small physical altercation. And then shortly thereafter, the gunshots were fired.”
According to police, the gunman left after the shooting as bystanders stepped in to help the victim.
“After the shooting occurred, several of his coworkers were, you know, entering and exiting their vehicles at the time. And so, they saw him lying on the ground and began administering aid to him,” Coleman said.
The man was taken to a hospital for treatment. His current condition is not known.

Arlington Police said the suspected gunman, whom they identified as 26-year-old Larry Hines, called 911 a short time later and said he was involved in the shooting.
“He provided information that led us to determine that he was also a second party to this incident,” Coleman said.
Police located Hines at his apartment on Viridian Village Drive and questioned him. He was ultimately arrested and is facing a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. A bond amount has not been set, and it’s unclear whether he has retained an attorney to speak on his behalf.
There were no additional reports of any injuries or property damage. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
