Imprisoned Death Row Records executive Marion “Suge” Knight is warning prosecutors and defense attorneys that they’ll regret dragging him into the Tupac Shakur murder trial.

Knight was seated next to the slain “I Ain’t Mad At Cha” rapper on Sept. 7, 1996, when gunfire poured down on the pair’s black BMW, wounding both men. Shakur, sitting in the front passenger seat, succumbed to his injuries in a Las Vegas hospital on Sept. 13.

Following years of rumors and conspiracy theories, gang member Duane “Keffe D” Davis was arrested and charged in connection with Shakur’s killing in September 2023.

Davis reportedly claimed in his 2019 memoir, “Compton Street Legend,” that he was sitting in the front seat of a Cadillac that pulled up to next to the BMW Shakur was in when shots rang out from the back seat of the Cadillac at a stoplight. He indicated that his late nephew may have been the gunman. There had previously been an altercation between the occupants of the two vehicles.

However, the 63-year-old defendant told ABC News in March that he was misrepresented by a ghostwriter and is innocent. Jury selection for Davis’s trial got underway in Nevada on Monday.

Knight told ABC News from San Diego’s Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility — where he’s a decade into a 28-year sentence on an unrelated manslaughter charge — that Davis’ trial is none of his business.

“This trial has nothing to do with me and if somebody brings me there, it’s gonna hurt whoever brings me there,” Knight said last week.

USA Today reported Monday that Knight appears on the prosecution’s witness list. The 61-year-old southern California native made clear that he doesn’t want to work with either team of lawyers trying the case.

“Leave me out of it,” he said.

Knight had previously told ABC News that he’s not in the business of investigating homicides. He now appears to question the believability of other individuals who may have worked with investigators.

“You have people who wasn’t there, wasn’t in the car, but they’re telling the story,” Knight believes.
