It's terrible what happened at the Manchester arena but we now have to change our because of terrorism, even some small car show get well over 200 people this will kill them off

The law of unintended consequence.
Let's hope that the events we go to or help out at continues.
Annual event I organise for a transport museum typically brings in 200 cars but over 6000 public on a free to walk in event. No money to pay for bag searches/ barriers. Will be interesting for us come Nov/ Dec when we start planning

A lot of the craft fairs we attend have over 200 attendees. I hope the lower tier is straightforward to implement as it will stop smaller venues in their tracks.

Reading what little info there is currently the part about getting people in or out safely will already be covered by an insurance/fire risk assessment. So that will just leave a lockdown process to add, although locking down a field seems a bit daft to say the least.
Probably the biggest change for the small shows/gatherings will be ensuring that the visitor numbers on site at any one time are kept below the 800 threshold. Although that sounds straightforward I wouldn't want to be the one responsible for counting people in and out.

I could see this coming, it might well kill off some events, a local one is street based, well over a thousand people lining the streets... I hope I'm wrong and they can find a way, I can see bag searches coming.

Ends the annual Remembrance Day wreath-laying ceremony if enforced with the usual overly bureaucratic heavy hand. Many more 800 people lined the streets - and who could be held responsible for counting an unticketed event?
Law of unintended consequences indeed.

Sneaky way of 'banning' all forms of protest in significant numbers ?

I suppose the 'loophole' will be that if it happens in public it doesn't count? Otherwise the council would have to check everyone in and out of a shopping centre, highways dept would need to carry out security checks with stationary traffic when a motorway closes, beaches would need gates on them, etc etc.

I'd never heard of this until I was at Astle Park Steam Rally the other day, and apparently that was the reason for exhibitors being required to stay in place until 5pm. I, too, hope it doesn't result in the smaller meetings becoming too much trouble to be worth organising, and get used as an excuse for stopping things in a similar way that GDPR and H&S are blamed for things regardless of whether they're involved or not.

Sounds like the governments got the legislation shotgun out and everyone’s caught a pellet. How do you lockdown a field. More to the point, what sodding terrorist is bombing a tractor show

I think there's going to be quite a bit of push back on various bits of legislation, as there's also new rules coming into force in England and Wales for event medical providers.
I can't remember the date, but sometime next year anybody providing paid event medical cover is going to have to be registered with the CQC, so the number of providers is going to quickly reduce, and costs get pushed up.
It's going to kill off a lot of smaller sports events, as they often rely on local Mountain Rescue, and a lot of them have said it's not going to be worth registering.

Just to me looks like one big "social failure" - looks like the terrorists won.
They got to spoil it for everybody that goes to dog shows - tractor events - other events. They got to spoil it for nice people doing anything nice on a sunny bank holiday weekend...
You can get more than 200 people at a flower show - village fete...

At Weeting steam rally last month, one of the traction engines couldn't get the water pump to prime. 10 minutes of spannering turned into 10 minutes of swearing followed by relief when they got the pump going.
Those steam engine boys are used to bomb threats.
