Revolut has acquired a French banking licence as it steps up its expansion across Europe, while also eyeing the US.
The fintech was granted the licence by the ACPR banking regulator and the European Central Bank, meaning it can offer French customers a wider range of loans, mortgages and savings products.
London-based Revolut is also hoping to secure a licence in the US this year after becoming a fully fledged UK bank in March following years of negotiations.
The firm has clashed with European regulators since securing a banking licence in Lithuania in 2018.
Revolut plans to make Paris its Western Europe headquarters as it shifts customers away from its Eastern hub.
