Boyfriend arrested in connection with death of 17-year-old girl in Garden Grove

An 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with his girlfriend’s death in Garden Grove, police said Wednesday.
Ethan Vidal was taken into custody for attempted homicide after investigators said he was involved in an altercation with his girlfriend, 17-year-old Janely Guiterrez, whom he lived with in Garden Grove.
According to the Garden Grove Police Department, officers responded to the 8800 block of Hewitt Place just after 11:30 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived, they said they found Guiterrez bleeding from her head.
Guiterrez was taken to the hospital, where she died a day later, the police department said.
Details about the altercation and what led up to it were not released.
The investigation is ongoing.
