Solar Eclipse 2026: A chilling theory suggests that the Earth will abruptly experience a loss of gravity for a brief period on Wednesday, causing widespread panic as billions of people begin to float away from the ground.

The internet buzzes over a theory predicting Earth's gravity loss on August 12, 2026, lasting seven seconds, linked to black hole collisions. This bizarre conspiracy theory, which has gained significant traction online since December 2025, claims that NASA has secretly identified gravitational waves resulting from the collision of two black holes millions of years ago, now approaching Earth like a lethal energy beam.

Chilling conspiracy theory: Earth to experience seven seconds of weightlessness in 2026

Online enthusiasts speculate that this unusual celestial occurrence may lead to a temporary "switch off" of the Earth's gravity. They assert that they have uncovered a significant "secret" within a NASA document named "Project Anchor," which purportedly indicates that the planet could undergo a seven-second period of weightlessness.

This intriguing theory proposes that the leaked document identifies the date as August 12, occurring at exactly 2:33 PM US time.

One of the earliest documented mentions of this peculiar theory can be found in an Instagram post by @mr_danya_of. The post stated: "On August 12, 2026, the world will lose gravity for seven seconds. NASA knows. They're preparing but won't tell us why."

The post asserts that this cosmic phenomenon would lead to "40 million deaths from falls. Infrastructure destruction. Economic Collapse lasting over ten years. Mass panic."

It is also suggested that this disruption would be triggered by "the intersection of gravitational waves" produced by colliding black holes.

NASA rejects viral theory of gravity loss during 2026 Solar Eclipse as nonsense

Meanwhile, a NASA spokesperson reacted to the wild theory, saying, “The Earth will not lose gravity on [August] 12, 2026. Earth's gravity, or total gravitational force, is determined by its mass. The only way for the Earth to lose gravity would be for the Earth system, the combined mass of its core, mantle, crust, ocean, terrestrial water, and atmosphere, to lose mass.”

Dr. William Alston, an expert in black holes at the University of Hertfordshire, has provided clarification on whether gravitational waves arriving at Earth could result in a loss of gravity for our planet, as per Daily Star.

“These ripples are so weak that we have had to build the most sensitive detection equipment to see them – known as the LIGO and Virgo observatories,” he stated.

"These ripples routinely pass through Earth and ourselves, very subtly squeezing and stretching us; however, this is so small – many times smaller than the size of an atom – that this change goes by completely unnoticed."

Solar eclipse in US

On early Wednesday morning, a celestial alignment involving six planets, commonly referred to as a planet parade, will allow observers to see Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, Uranus, Saturn, and Neptune together in the pre-dawn sky.

In the United States, the optimal viewing period along the East Coast will occur between 5:18 AM and 5:34 AM ET, as per Daily Mail.

Additionally, a total solar eclipse will take place on Wednesday, which NASA has said will be visible in parts of the northern United States, stretching from Alaska to North Carolina, as well as in most regions of Canada, Europe, and northwestern Africa.

For those located on the East Coast of the United States, the eclipse is anticipated to commence shortly after 1 PM ET.
