Today, the Council of Ministers approved several important measures.

Among them, we have extended the measures to tackle high fuel costs until 25 August. We are trying to do our part to mitigate the effects of the price rises at what is still a very complex time on the international stage. As of 25 August, the so-called ‘variable excise duty’ mechanism will come into force again, which we will continue to carefully monitor in order to assess whether any further action is required.

We have also strengthened action for the Campi Flegrei (Phlegraean Fields), with new resources and measures to support the households affected, secure buildings and help Municipalities manage a situation that continues to require the utmost attention.

Furthermore, we have authorised permanent staff hires for the next school year: 46,642 teachers, 10,810 of whom are special needs teachers, in addition to headteachers, educational staff, religious education teachers and administrative, technical and auxiliary (ATA) staff. This significant investment will bring almost 11,000 new special needs teachers to our schools, guaranteeing greater educational continuity, enhancing inclusion and ensuring students with disabilities get the support they deserve.

We know there are challenges that cannot be resolved in a day. This is why we will continue to follow all these situations responsibly, ready to intervene whenever necessary.
