Olivia Attwood's showjumper sister Georgia has revealed she was rushed to hospital during a girls' trip to Miami. 

The 34-year-old had joined Olivia, 35, for a brand trip with Space NK in America back in May, but ended up spending five days in hospital after she suffered 'critical' symptoms caused by endometriosis. 

Endometriosis occurs when cells in the lining of the uterus are found elsewhere in the body. 

Each month, these cells react in the same way as those in the uterus; building up, breaking down and bleeding. Yet, the blood has no way to escape the body.

Symptoms include pain, heavy periods and fatigue, as well as a higher risk of infertility, and bowel and bladder problems.

Georgia said while her sister was partying with Stacey Solomon and Rochelle Humes, she was in hospital. She then flew home to go straight into her fifth round of surgery after endometriosis spread to her bowel. 

Sharing a video of her time in hospital as well as highlights of the past few months, Georgia explained the strength it takes to battle the condition. 

She said: 'Some of you know I’ve battled endo for years. Recently, symptoms I’d been pushing through turned critical during an opportunity I had to attend an incredible trip with @spacenk with my sister - I ended up hospitalised for 5 days in Miami (I watched the whole thing on insta with you guys. Shout out to the amazing PR team from space who literally could not have been kinder).

'Back home, I went straight into surgery - my 5th. This time, they found endometriosis had spread into my bowel, causing a blockage, with lesions fusing it to my pelvic wall. 

'Learning how far it had progressed despite all the previous surgery was devastating. 

'I’m lucky to have had an incredible surgeon and a successful outcome - but recovery isn’t linear.

'Instagram shows the highlight reel of life. What it doesn’t show is how hard I push to keep showing up - and the hard days that come after. I know so many women with endo carry that same quiet resilience.

'Someone said to me recently, “so many people have endo now.” That’s not true - the same number of people have always had it. What’s changed is that brave people are sharing their stories, and organisations like @theendometriosisfoundation are advocating loudly. That’s what moves research, healthcare systems, and governments to act.

'No patient voices, no change. So if you’re comfortable to do so - keep sharing. Keep the pressure up. Change is happening, and it’s because of every one of you.'

Olivia showed her support by commenting a number of love heart emojis, while their mother wrote: 'Georgia, so much of your life has been blighted by this condition. Too many surgeries so much pain each time you pick yourself up and carry on achieving so much in your professional life and competitive riding. 

'That tough-ever-competitive middle child shining through. We are so proud'.

Georgia competes as a showjumping equestrian and also balances a successful business career. She boasts 38,000 followers on Instagram. 

Olivia also has a younger brother, Max, who keeps largely out of the spotlight.
