(LifeSiteNews) — The Texas family who purchased Jeffrey Epstein’s Zorro Ranch in New Mexico has had the property exorcised by a traditional Catholic priest.

“We flew in an exorcist from Ohio, a Latin Mass priest, and it took him three days just to exorcise every bit of the property,” Devin Huffines told Newsmax.

Devin is one of the five children of Don Huffines, the Dallas real estate magnate and Texas comptroller who bought the property.

“We’re devout Roman Catholics. The spiritual aspect of this is real for us — demons and devils,” Devin explained.

Several women have said they were sexually abused by Epstein at the ranch.

Devin said that some of his family initially balked at the idea of acquiring the ranch of the notorious sex trafficker and financier.

“All the girls and my mom were saying absolutely not. No way. You can’t do it. It’s, you know, ick,” Huffines said. However, being reassured that the purchasing money would go to Epstein’s victims helped to put their minds at ease, he suggested.

“We ended up looking at this as like just a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, a once-in-a-lifetime deal,” he said.

Don Huffines purchased Zorro Ranch in 2023 under the name of an LLC and renamed it San Rafael Ranch. In an interview with One America News Network, Huffines explained that he chose the name because St. Rafael is known as the angel of healing. His name literally means “God heals.”

After their new ownership was publicized by The New Mexican in February, the Huffines family announced they planned to use the property as a Christian retreat center.

The New Mexico Department of Justice reopened a criminal probe into alleged criminal activity at Zorro Ranch in February and searched the property over two days in March with the consent of the Huffines.

Devin Huffines told Newsmax it “seemed like 60 detectives” who arrived and “tore the place apart” using “ground-penetrating radar, thermal drones, cadaver dogs, thermal imaging cameras in the walls.”

Huffines said he pondered what evil may have occurred on the property when he first arrived.

“It definitely hopped in my mind at the very, very beginning, the very first time I ever saw this place like, did anything happen in here?” he told Newsmax.

“But land isn’t evil. Real estate isn’t evil. It doesn’t commit crimes. It doesn’t sin. It’s just real estate. It’s just land. It’s just a building, and this is a world-class building,” Huffines added.

Huffines affirmed that his family planned to use the ranch as a Christian retreat center, with “a lot of light shone in the darkness.”

The retreat center will include “prayer and fasting cabins,” and opportunities for fishing, hunting, a shooting range, and horseback riding.

The Huffines are planning a new entrance gate for the ranch that will read “All are welcome who come in the name of the Lord.”
