BITS Pilani and its campuses have registered placements for more than 2,480 students, an increase of 3.46 per cent over last year.

“The placement process will continue through September 2026. The average compensation is approximately ₹23.58 lakh per annum, representing around 6.4 per cent year-on-year growth. The median compensation is approximately ₹20 lakh per annum, which is up by around 3.16 per cent year-on-year,” a BITS Pilani official said.

Demand is strongest across software development, AI/ML, data science and engineering, cloud, backend/full-stack development, cybersecurity, SRE/DevOps, and product engineering roles. The hiring mix is also expanding into specialised technology roles such as AI Engineers, Machine Learning Engineers, Data Scientists, Decision Intelligence Engineers and Quantitative Researchers.

hiring landscape

The hiring landscape has become significantly more diversified and is not limited to traditional large IT services companies.

“This year, we have seen strong participation from global technology & product companies such as Microsoft, Google, Apple, Amazon, Oracle, Uber, Walmart Global Tech, Flipkart, Salesforce and PayPal, alongside a growing set of emerging technology and startup companies,” he said.

The semiconductor and deep-tech ecosystem is also strongly represented, including NVIDIA, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, Micron, AMD, ARM, NXP Semiconductor, MediaTek, Intel, Cadence, Infineon, Renesas, Applied Materials, Astera Labs and Skyworks.

“This indicates a broader shift towards product technology, AI, semiconductors, deep tech, fintech, analytics and specialised technology roles, alongside conventional IT hiring,” he said.

He said the placement activity has remained healthy this year, with the recruitment process continuing to gain momentum.

“The recruiter base has also expanded significantly, with over 600 companies participating in the current placement cycle. Across our campuses, the number of unique participating companies has increased by 15.3 per cent year on year,” he said.

“While the current placement rate is approximately 5.6 percentage points below the corresponding level of the previous year, the placement season is still underway. With continued recruiter engagement, we remain confident that this gap will be substantially narrowed and crossed by the close of the placement season,” he said.
