Franco Gnessi of DYDXL Design Forge is hoping to inspire discovery with his latest concept. 

Christened Wanderlust95, the hybrid explorer is designed to travel to the farthest reaches efficiently and elegantly. At 32.49 meters, or roughly 106 feet, the newcomer is relatively compact by modern superyacht standards yet offers the comfort, style, and performance expected of a contemporary cruiser. 

The vessel delivers volumes typical of a “higher category” in a “manageable” format, according to the studio. Every cubic inch has been capitalized on, giving the yacht a sense of openness and grandeur that belies its overall length. The exterior decks serve multiple functions, meaning there is little wasted space. 

The flybridge, for example, doubles as a relaxation zone and social hub, with a pool, sun loungers, a large dining table, and a fully equipped bar. Similarly, the expansive, expandable stern can transform from a beach club into a launch pad for toys and tenders, with movable furniture and integrated storage compartments. At the opposite end, the bow features another pool flanked by a long lounge. The aft decks are home to more lounges still. 

The interior centers around a light and airy salon with floor-to-ceiling glazing that invites the outdoors in. Accommodation includes cabins for up to 10 guests plus four crew. No interior renders have been shared at this stage.

In terms of construction, the exterior is envisioned in either fiberglass or aluminum. The diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system is paired with a sizable onboard battery pack, allowing the yacht to cruise silently in fully electric mode when required. That is essential when navigating protected coastlines, marine reserves, and the like. 

Gnessi, who founded DYDXL Design Forge (originally Dynaship Yacht Design) in the 1990s, has a reputation for pushing the envelope with disruptive designs that typically blend contemporary aesthetics with modern tech and innovations. His previous creations include a 244-footer designed to look like a killer whale, a 147-footer inspired by Rationalist architecture, a 200-footer with the sleek stylings of a sports car, and a 190-footer that evokes the military vessels of World War II.

Wanderlust95 is just a concept at this stage, but could advance to construction if it attracts a wanderluster.
