Hinduja Group exchanging MoU with TN Government officials for a Rs 2500 crore investment
Daimler, Saint Gobain, Hinduja Group, Lucas TVS, Phoenix Kothari Footwear, Skyroot, Ultraviolette Automotive, and more, are among companies that committed to invest in Tamil Nadu, and signed MoUs at Vettri Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave 2026 in Chennai on Thursday.
Presided over by the TN CM C Joseph Vijay, 97 companies exchanged MoUs representing ₹67,452 crore in investment commitments and 1,06,998 projected direct and indirect jobs. In addition, seven institutional agreements were signed.
With these, cumulative investment commitments secured during the first 100 days of the new TN government has crossed ₹1 lakh crore, with more than 1.2 lakh job opportunities expected to be created, a statement said. “The conclave includes 56 greenfield projects, while 25 projects represent companies undertaking their first project in Tamil Nadu,” it added.
Among top committments are Germany’s Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, which says it will invest ₹4,000 crore to expand its 400-acre Oragadam facility. France’s Saint-Gobain will invest ₹2,000 crore across a new greenfield plant in Krishnagiri and an expansion in Kanchipuram.
Japan’s YKK, manufacturer of zippers and fastening products, will invest ₹1,651 crore in Tiruvallur, creating 4,316 jobs. Hinduja Group is set to invest ₹2,500 Crore in Tamil Nadu Towards Renewables & New Mobility Solutions.
Australia’s AVID Group, a mining and infrastructure conglomerate, plans an investment of approximately ₹15,000 crore over the next five years, towards urban infrastructure, experiential tourism, healthcare and mining components manufacturing.
Among the new-age companies, space start-ups Agnikul Cosmos and Skyroot Aerospace are both setting up facilities in Thoothukudi. Skyroot is entering TN for the first time while Agnikul is expanding on its earlier committment.
Industries Minister S Keerthana, in her speech said the first 100 days provide early proof of that approach with 56 greenfield projects; 25 companies investing in Tamil Nadu for the first time A significant feature of the investments is the scale of new investment entering Tamil Nadu. She also outlined reforms aimed at improving the investor experience, including a proposed Tamil Nadu Investor Promotion Commission for major projects, a 21-day timeline for approvals, licences and NOCs, among other steps.
SectorsThe largest commitments include ₹26,417 crore (26 per cent by value) in data centres, ₹17,073 crore (17 per cent) in automotive, ₹15,787 crore in renewables and ₹9,525 crore (15 per cent) in critical engineering.
MoUs at the conclave cover 19 districts, with 54 projects located outside the State’s four core industrial districts. These represent ₹40,722 crore in investment commitments and 61,480 projected jobs, as per the Statement.
RamanathapuramRamanathapuram will receive a ₹1,000 crore investment project from the Chennai-based Phoenix Kothari Footwear Limited projected to create 10,000 jobs. This marks the district’s first such industrial project.
CountriesThe investments come from 16 source countries, including Australia, Germany, Japan, France, Singapore, South Korea, the US and others.
High value jobsA total of 40 projects across high-value sectors, including electronics and semiconductors, aerospace, defence and space, life sciences, data centres, deeptech, R&D and GCCs and universities, are projected to create 25,487 high-value jobs, accounting for 21 per cent of all projected employment, the industries department said.
The TVK government’s maiden investment conclave also saw the CM distribute job offers to 20 employees.
