Francesca Hong’s collapse offers hope for establishment Dems — but the radical left is still working hard to infiltrate

Late Tuesday night, establishment Democrats finally exhaled after holding their collective breath as the polls proved to have badly overestimated the far-left’s appeal in the Wisconsin governor’s primary.

Thanksgiving-hating socialist Francesca Hong narrowly lost to David Crowley, showing the limits of the radical left’s appeal in a Midwest swing state, as long as the normal Democrat has a modicum of charisma and organizational support.

Regular Dems also know the polls were about as badly off in last week’s Michigan’s Senate primary; far-lefty Abdul El-Sayed squeaked through because he did have far more charisma, and avoided the actual Democratic Socialist label.

Anti-Trump fury may carry him over the finish line in November, but the left is still furious at how far it’s falling behind those polls: Pinko streamer Hasan Piker tweeted angrily of Hong’s defeat: “Outlaw Thanksgiving and outlaw boomers.”

What’s now obvious is that those polls didn’t capture the rural voters and urban blacks who aren’t remotely sold on the left’s agenda.

To win, the extremists need low-turnout primaries in gentrifying urban districts in deep-blue states, or candidates with the dynamism and charm to attract a broader coalition.

Then again, the left is still pulling the Democratic Party its way: The establishment is rushing to legitimize El-Sayed, and all too many candidates, for example, still don’t dare speak common sense on issues like protecting women’s spaces from males “identifying” as female.

That may not stop Democrats from winning back the House and even the Senate this fall, but it’s going to limit their gains until they can start reliably defeating the left in their own primaries.

On the other hand, the lefties are learning, too: Don’t expect them to put their future hopes on losers like Francesca Hong.
