Durham Regional Police say the senior citizen departed from Oshawa Airport at 8:30 a.m.

“David, age 73, is an experienced pilot and departed the airport in a single (engine) home-built aircraft and was expected to return at 9:30 a.m.,” police said in a statement released Saturday.
He’s described as 5-foot-7, with a slim build, black/grey hair and a moustache.

“David typically flies in the area south of Kawartha Lakes township and north of Lake Scugog,” police said. “However, the last known location of the aircraft is believed to be around Balsam Lake.”

Police said their officers are working with the Ontario Provincial Police and the Trenton Joint Rescue Coordination Centre who are assisting in the search for the missing man.
