Police found the father lying dead on a bed. He had suffered a severe head injury, while a blood-soaked sickle was found nearby.
A 16-year-old boy allegedly killed his 50-year-old father in Noida’s Phase 3 before dying by suicide by jumping in front of a Metro train at Sector 52 station, police said on Friday.
The teenager’s alleged killing of his father came to light after police investigating his death traced him to his home in Ajnara Colony, where they found the man’s body.
Investigators aware of the case details, who asked not to be identified, said neighbours and other local residents told them that the father frequently restricted the boy’s movement and did not allow him to go outside. Police are also investigating claims that the teenager was intellectually challenged and that his father kept him confined at home.
The family, originally from Jharkhand, had been living in Noida’s Sector 121 for around seven years. About three months ago, they shifted to a rented house in Ajnara Colony near Tikona Park in Phase 3.
Around 7am on Thursday, police received information that a teenager had died by suicide after jumping in front of a Metro train at Sector 52 station. A bag found with him contained two mobile phones, keys and documents. One of the phones belonged to the teenager and the other to his father, police said. The documents helped investigators trace his mother in Delhi. She told police that she had separated from her husband six years ago and that their son had been living with his father, who worked as a teacher.
Police then contacted the teenager’s uncle in Noida, who told them that his brother was also unreachable. A team then went to the family’s rented house in Phase 3 which they found bolted from outside, police said. Investigators used the keys recovered from the teenager to open the door.
“As a foul smell was also coming out of the room,” said a police officer, requesting anonymity.
Inside, police found the father lying dead on a bed. He had suffered a severe head injury, while a blood-soaked sickle was found nearby, along with the teenager’s blood-stained clothes.
Police suspect the teenager attacked his father while he was asleep before leaving the house and locking it from outside.

During the investigation, neighbours and other residents told police that the father allegedly kept his son confined whenever he went to work. They said the teenager was not allowed to go outside or interact with others and had not been enrolled in school. “It was believed that the man restricted his movement fearing any crime could be committed by his son as he was intellectually challenged,” said the officer cited above.

Police said the teenager’s body was handed over to his mother for the last rites, while his father’s post-mortem examination was being conducted on Friday. A murder case has been registered at Phase 3 police station on the complaint of the deceased man’s brother.
