They made their red carpet debut at the 25th Annual Tribeca Festival in June 2026 for the premiere of her concert film Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour – Live from Paris. 'I am deeply appalled and angry to see “Firework” used on the @WhiteHouse TikTok account as a backing track for video footage of military strikes,' she began. 'I did not approve this, I was not asked, and I absolutely do not condone it,' the singer-songwriter fumed. 'I wrote this song to be an anthem of hope, healing, and inner strength for people going through their darkest personal moments. 'To see a message of self-worth and upliftment weaponized to soundtrack destruction and violence is a complete violation of everything my song stands for.

My music is for bringing people together, not celebrating warfare.' Perry's fury comes after she sold the catalog rights to all of her music published through 2020 in a 2023 deal reportedly worth a whopping $225 million. However, the singer's furious statement didn't make any claims that she had the right to block the White House's use of her music. Perry joins a list of pop acts who have spoken out against the government's use of their music for political promotion.
